Classify paths by effect: before is the configuration being replaced and after the mutated working copy. A path declared only after is a Create, one declared only before a Delete, anything else an Update. Declaration follows the property tree, so a map entry (agents.<alias>) exists exactly while it has fields, and creating one implicitly (a PUT under a new alias) classifies as the creation it is.

pub fn with(self, path: impl Into<String>, verb: Verb) -> ConfigWriteSet

Pin the verb for a path whose route semantics the effect diff does not show: a DELETE of a scalar prop clears it rather than removing the declared field, and a JSON Patch remove likewise.
